What is a Durable Object?
Answer out loud or in your head first, then compare.
Answer
A Durable Object in Cloudflare combines running code with the identity of a specific object and its durable data. You can route requests about the same thing to one owner of the state, e.g. one campaign or one chat room.
That helps coordinate changes, e.g. give away the last spot only once. Durably stored data doesn't disappear when the object ordinarily stops running, but a variable in memory alone isn't enough as a durable record. The rules for running operations with await matter too: contacting an external API can let other requests in mid-work. So I don't assume any long function is one indivisible operation.
Why it matters: The concept first, then detailed questions about campaign limits.
Possible follow-ups: Why can one object for all the traffic become overloaded?
How did it go? Be honest — “Not yet” puts the question on your review list.
