How do you check whether an assistant really helps employees?
Answer out loud or in your head first, then compare.
Answer
I measure the completed task and the time it takes to finish, not just the number of messages. More conversations can mean the user can't get an answer. I also look at corrections, drop-offs and cases handed over to a person.
Example: the assistant is meant to shorten preparing a request. I check how many people finish a correct request and how much work it takes to review the suggestion. I complement the numbers with conversations with users. Analytics shouldn't collect all the confidential content along the way. I set the success criteria before rollout, so I don't later pick only the metric that looks good.
Why it matters: The offer requires ownership of the product's value.
Possible follow-ups: What if the user rates an answer positively but it's wrong?
How did it go? Be honest — “Not yet” puts the question on your review list.
