Answer
Next.js is a framework based on React. It provides ready-made conventions and tools for building the whole app: routing, server rendering, data handling and some backend features. React focuses mainly on composing the interface.
For example, with React alone I have to choose separately how to handle page URLs and how to generate the initial HTML. Next has its own solutions. But check the project's version and router. The Pages Router and the App Router have different APIs, so knowledge of getServerSideProps doesn't carry over directly to every new file in the app directory.
Why it matters: Next.js is in your CV; the interviewer may start by comparing it with React.
Possible follow-ups: Does every React app need Next.js?
How did it go? Be honest — “Not yet” puts the question on your review list.
