What does eventual consistency mean?
Answer out loud or in your head first, then compare.
Answer
It means that after a write, different read locations may see different versions of the data for a while. If there are no further changes and the system works as designed, reads eventually converge on a consistent state. It doesn't mean data always updates after exactly one second.
Example: I change a campaign's address, but some servers still use the old cached copy for a moment. That may be acceptable for a product description, and unacceptable for the last available seat or for revoking access to a confidential file. So I ask how fresh the result must be and what the delay leads to.
Why it matters: Needed to understand KV stores and the security of cached data.
Possible follow-ups: Why isn't such a store automatically suitable for a strict shared counter?
How did it go? Be honest — “Not yet” puts the question on your review list.
