Answer
Redis is a data store with fast operations on structures such as keys, lists and sets. Many of its uses rely on keeping data in memory, though persistence mechanisms and various configurations are also available.
It's often used as a cache, for sessions, counters or rate limiting. Don't automatically assume the data is equally durable and equally consistent in every configuration. If I store the only record of a payment there, I must understand exactly what happens on failure. When Redis is just a cache, I can usually rebuild the result from the main database.
Why it matters: Redis is in the CV and often appears in backend architecture.
Possible follow-ups: What does the app do when the Redis cache stops responding?
How did it go? Be honest — “Not yet” puts the question on your review list.
